Following a scoreless first period, St. Thomas Aquinas got things rolling with 41 unanswered second quarter points.
Led by quarterback Max Lescano, the Raiders got on the board with a 6-yard run by Dami Ayoola. On the next play, linebacker Tyler Drake intercepted a Nova pass and returned it 15 yards to give the Raiders a 14-0 lead. St. Thomas would score a touchdown on each of its next four drives.
Despite a great second quarter performance, coach Rocco Casullo wasn’t pleased with the slow start.
“We can’t play that kind of football,” Casullo said. “We kind of got after them after those first couple of series. You can’t start off slow like that.”
For Nova, quarterback Michael Flood guided the Titans into the end zone in the third with a 10-yard pass to William Butler. Flood passed for 89 yards and rushed for 49 yards.
