For the third consecutive year, a Raider football player was named the All-Broward County Male Athlete of the Year by The Miami Herald.
Philip Pierre-Louis was selected as the Male Athlete of the Year based on his performance both in football and track. He joins 10 other Aquinas football greats that have been honored as the best male athlete in Broward since the award began during the 1964-65 school year.
As a receiver for the Class 5A State Champion Raiders, Pierre-Louis was one of the most dynamic players in the state. He led St. Thomas with 30 receptions for 586 yards and eight touchdowns. Pierre-Louis, 5-8 and 170 pounds, also scored four times on punt returns. He will attend Auburn University on a football scholarship.
Pierre-Louis also won the award for the Male Track Athlete of the Year. He clinched the Raiders first boy's state title with a victory in the 200 meters at the 3A State Finals. Known for the speed he generates coming off the curve, Pierre-Louis clocked a career best 21.17 to win the Region 4-3A title. The senior's second place finish in the 100 meters at the Finals set the tone for the Raider's march to their first title.
Pierre-Louis claims his place in Raider history along with these previous Raider Male Athletes of the Year.
